Lewis E. Carpenter Jr.

Mr. Lewis Eugene Carpenter, Jr., a lifelong resident of Hampton, Virginia, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. He was the owner of Economy Insulating Company until his retirement in 1991, and a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church and Laf-A-Lot Hunt Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Williams Carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Carley Pettway Carpenter; his daughters, Brenda Ryan and husband Mike, Susan Clarke and husband Bobby; granddaughter, Amy Craig and husband Chris of Arden, NC; granddaughter, Sally Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Ethan and Grayson. He is also survived by his brother, David Carpenter; his sister, Shirley Burch; and four stepsons, Frederick Pettway of Richmond, VA, Michael Pettway and wife Lori of Wilmington, DE, John Pettway of Dallas, TX, and Scott Pettway of Gloucester, VA. A celebration of Lewis' life will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
