Mrs. Edna Ratilla Burgos, a true beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband by her side on the evening of March 5th, 2024. Edna was born on September 20, 1956, in Cebu City, Philippines. Edna graced this world for 67 years before her ascendance to heaven where she is now in the loving embrace of God.
Edna, fondly known as Mama Edna to her family, leaves behind a legacy of love and determination that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Anthony, her loving sons Christopher and Michael, their cherished wives Aimee and Monica, her beloved daughter Jasmine, and her adoring granddaughters, Mia and Avery. Edna is also survived by her cherished siblings; Maria Days, Isabel Marte, Yvette Constantino & Lino Godinez. Edna was preceded in death by her older brother Michael, her parents Felix and Candida Godinez, and her grandparents Crispino Adriatico and Valeriana Adriatico.
Through her life's journey, Edna embraced various roles with grace and dedication. As an Air Force spouse, she navigated the challenges of frequent relocations and traveling all over Asia, Europe and the United States. She embraced opportunities for personal growth and connection within the military community by making countless friends. Her tenure with various employers, here and abroad, saw her excel in numerous positions, receiving praise and recognition for demonstrating keen adaptability and outstanding work ethic.
Edna also pursued higher education and studied Business Administration at Angeles University. Yet, it was her role as a devoted mother, wife, and friend that truly defined her essence. Edna's generous heart and welcoming spirit endeared her to all who crossed her path. Her warmth and kindness were felt by her entire family and those fortunate enough to call her a friend. Edna was an extraordinarily accomplished home chef whose talented fusion of dishes and flavors from her travels in Asia and Europe created wonderful dishes to the delight of her friends and family. Edna also loved spending time on her various hobbies such as dancing, sewing and gardening. The pastime that brought her the greatest joy was nurturing her flowers and plants in her beautiful garden.
Edna's unwavering determination and boundless love for her children gave her the strength to overcome significant health challenges. She shattered barriers with resilience and demonstrated that with love and perseverance, anything is possible. Her journey serves as a testament to the power of love and the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity. Her shining example of courage and resilience is a source of enduring strength and perseverance for her family.
Edna's devotion, generosity and nurturing presence will be deeply missed, but her love and influence endure in the hearts of all those who knew her. As her family and friends gather to bid her farewell, they do so with gratitude for the indelible mark she left on their lives. In honoring her memory, let us carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion, ensuring that Mama Edna's spirit lives on in our hearts forever.
