Dorothy Belle McCoy
April 24, 1938 – June 22, 2017

Dorothy Belle McCoy, 79, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017. She was a native of Phoebus and a resident of Newport News for over fifty years.
She was an exceptional seamstress who worked from her home and made many garments including wedding dresses, pageant dresses, and personal clothing for her family. She was of the Methodist faith. Dorothy was a member of the Police Officers’ Wives Assoc., the Red Hat Society of Hampton, and the Mended Hearts Peninsula Chapter #119.
Preceding her in rest is her father, Huston A. Smith and Nina Smith; mother, Mabel Virginia Coulter and Warren Coulter. Surviving members of her family include her husband of 57 years, Herbert B. McCoy; daughters, Susan M. Koechlein (Richard), and Virginia L. Dreybus (Mike); son, Warren A. McCoy; grandchildren, Adrien N. Poulos (Jason A.), M. Christopher Dreybus, and Zachary S. Dreybus; great grandchildren, Nicholas A. Poulos and Audrey N. Poulos; brothers, Francis R. Smith (Anne), and Huston A. Smith, Jr. (Ann).
A service will be held graveside on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Parklawn Memorial Park at 10:30 AM. A reception following the service will be held in Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
