Callie Lou Henderson

Callie Lou Henderson, 80, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Newport News. Callie was a 1947 graduate of Newport News High School and a 38 year member of Hilton Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery and as a kitchen supervisor. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Herbert R. Henderson; a daughter, Mary Lemon and her husband Eddie of Gloucester; two sons, Thomas and Ed Henderson both of Newport News; three grandchildren, Ryan Henderson of Chattanooga, TN, Joseph Martin and Rachel Sweat of Gloucester; three great grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Croswell, of Melbourne, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5:30 until 7:30 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Callie’s life will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm in Hilton Baptist Church, 101 Main Street, Newport News by Reverend Lynwood A. Wells. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
