Brownie Hill Woodell, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2021.
She was born in North Carolina and was a resident of Hampton for 75 years. Brownie worked for the American Tobacco Company, Noland Company, and then worked for and retired from Hampton City Schools where she was a library assistant at Hampton High School.
Throughout the years, Brownie served as a Pink Lady at Dixie Hospital in Hampton, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Hampton Heritage Foundation. In her later years, Brownie was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization in support of her husband who was a prisoner of war during WWII.
Brownie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Shellie Woodell and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hall. She is survived by son, Glenn Woodell and wife Wendy Woodell; daughter, Greta Woodell Siwiec and husband David Siwiec; and great granddaughters, Alice and Eleanor Hall.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Brownie's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 9th, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals.
