Jerome E. “Jerry” Hoeing, 91, of Greensburg, passed away on December 2, 2023. He was born May 19, 1932 in rural Decatur County, the son of Joseph B. and Agnes (Butz) Hoeing. Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a route salesman for Wonder Bread and after retiring he delivered parts for Stone’s Farm Service and Stone’s Napa. Jerry married Kathleen A. Thrine June 21, 1958 and together they had eight children. Jerry was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include: Wife, Kathleen A. Hoeing; Children, Becky (Gary) Metz, Kim (Tim) Stone, Sandy (David) Meyer, Joan (Bill) Metz, Bob (Tina) Hoeing and Matt (Gina) Hoeing; Son in Law, Brian Wenning; Daughter in Law, Donna Hoeing; Brother, Sheldon (Mary) Hoeing; Sisters, Delores Bruns and Marieda (Jim) Koors; 21 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his Parents; Son, John “Buck” Hoeing; Daughter, Patti Wenning; Brothers, Marvin Hoeing, Maurice Hoeing, Carroll Hoeing and Alfred Hoeing; and Sister, Dorine Rosfeld.
Family and Friends are invited to pray the rosary with the family, Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 8:30 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A reception style (no line) visitation will follow until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Mass will also be available on the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home Facebook Page.
A private burial will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the St. Mary’s Catholic School. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com
