Phillip Terrell ‘Terry’ Hayes
Phillip Terrell ‘Terry’ Hayes, 62, Greencastle, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born May 13, 1952 in Greencastle to Phillip Tarcus and Mary Fern (Petrey) Hayes. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1971”. He married Catherine A. (White) Hayes on July 11, 2005 and she survives.
Terry had worked with the Greencastle Fire Department for six years, retiring in 1978 and he also worked and retired from Marsh Supermarket in Greencastle. He was a long time member of the Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; mother, Mary Fern Hayes; children Jason Hayes, Melissa Hayes, and Terry Dean (Kasey) Hayes; step children James, Christopher, and Mike Cole; six grandchildren Jaylee Hayes, Justin Gorham, Samuel Gorham, Danni Gorham, Landen P. Hayes, and Hallie Hayes; brother Gerald D. (Shirley) Hayes, sisters Judith L. (Don) Smith, Krista E. (Mike) Smith; and twelve nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Phillip Tarcus Hayes, nephew Matthew Hayes, grandparents Oscar and Martha Petrey, and Millard Hayes and Myfanway Hayes-Hathaway.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 26th at the funeral home.
