Norman L. Fisher, age 86, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away at his home Friday, January 1, 2016 with his family by his side. Norm was born in Edon, Ohio on August 12, 1929, the son of Oscar H. and Irma I. (Young) Fisher, they preceded him in death. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1947. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married Virginia Ann “Gin” Whitcomb on September 27, 1953 in Bronson, Michigan, she preceded him in death on June 26, 2001. He was a member and Past Commander of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257, and served in the Military Funeral Color Guard for the post for many years. He was also a former member of the VFW, Angola, Indiana. He was a NASACAR fan, traveling and watching races at many different tracks, was a Chicago Bears football fan, enjoyed taking walks every day, and then stopping at the Bull Pen Restaurant to have talks about the day’s events with his friends, and sitting on his front porch, “sometimes with his neighbors”, watching the comings and goings of the Fremont community. Norm retired from Moore Business Forms in Angola, Indiana, and was a partner with the Fremont Elevator. Survivors include two sons, Craig (Phyllis) Fisher, and Curt (Kim) Fisher, both of Fremont, Indiana, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Neil Fisher of Fremont, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nathalie Crain, a brother, Ned Fisher, and his companion, Betty Strang on December 21, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday January 6, 2016, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating. Calling hours will be held from 1 pm until 3 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2016, prior to the services at Beams Funeral Home. Burial will at the Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, with Military Committal Services conducted by members of the Fremont American Legion Color Guard and Fort Wayne Military Honors Team. Memorials are requested to the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257.
