Obituary of Roger Allen Marsden
Roger Allen Marsden, age 66, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024. He is survived by his daughters, Carla Gordon, Tammy Bratti and Sandy Gordon; his son, Jonathan Yanez Gordon (Fernando); his grandchildren, Kesha Broce (Marty), Amber Bailey, Kayla Bratti, Dominic Bratti and Jodi DeCosta; his great grandchildren, Kacie Webb-Broce (Jason), Chase Broce, Angel Dempsey, David Bailey, John Ross Broce (Alex), and Kassee Nation; and his great great granddaughters, Gracelyn, Payton and Audrey. Roger will also be greatly missed by his brother-in-law, Tom Parker; his sister-in-law, Ruth Primett; his bonus sister-in-law, Mary Woodward and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 37 years, Sandra Marsden. “Uncle Roger” was known for his skill and sportsmanship on the dartboard. He brought joy and camaraderie to all who played with him, and his love for the game was only matched by his love for the people around him. His family within the dart community will forever remember his infectious laughter and his unwavering love. He was inducted into the National Dart Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2024 he placed 2nd in the Eagles State Dart Tournament (1st place 2023), and in 2024 he placed 3rd in the team event at the Moose International Tournament. After retiring from C.J Coakley after 30 years of service he dedicated most of his free time to making memories with his beloved family. From baseball games to graduations, cookouts and holidays, Papaw could be found close by, soaking in precious family moments and participating in hilarious shenanigans alongside the people he loved most. He will be missed by all who knew him. A visitation for Roger will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. His Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00pm. After that Roger will be laid to rest next to his late wife at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
