Obituary of Patricia Agnes Farr
Patricia Agnes Farr, age 77, died November 11, 2022, with her family by her side in Falmouth, VA. A memorial service is planned for Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, VA. Pat was born March 10, 1945, in Struthers, OH to Frank and Anna Hudak. Her father was a retired steel worker, and her mother was a homemaker. Pat graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1963. She attended college at Youngstown State University and received a B.A. in English in 1970. She received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland in 1980. Pat met her husband Bill in 1970 and they were married exactly a year later, on August 28, 1971. They lived in Tallahassee, FL while Bill attended graduate school. They later moved to Baltimore, MD where Pat was a research assistant at Johns Hopkins University. Finally, they settled in Fredericksburg, VA in the summer of 1976 where they raised two children, Jennifer and William. Pat had a long career as a librarian. She started out as a library assistant at Mary Washington College. After earning her degree, she became a children’s librarian with Central Rappahannock Regional Library. There, she went on to become the Young Adult Coordinator for many years before returning to children’s services where she remained until her retirement in 2011. One of her favorite things to do as a librarian was to tell stories, and she was best known for her Halloween storytelling. Pat became a member of the congregation at Trinity Episcopal Church in the mid-1980s and remained so until her death. She volunteered in several capacities including serving as a Shepherd for the sick, helping to coordinate meal trains for families needing assistance, and was a member of the G.E.M.S. Pat had many interests including attending storytelling festivals, square dancing with husband Bill, leading her daughter’s girl scout troop, attending the theater, participating in Elder Study, traveling the world, visiting the mountains and the ocean, and collecting art to name a few. She was also very passionate about animals and loved many family pets over the years. In her last six months, Pat was thrilled to spend time with her new granddaughter, Hannah. Mrs. Farr is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Jennifer Deuell and spouse Matthew; son, Will Farr; and granddaughter Hannah Deuell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church, the Fredericksburg SPCA, or the Central Rappahannock Regional Library.
