Walter M. Butler

Walter M. Butler, 90, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 27, 1921 in Fort Wayne, he was an Army veteran of World War II.
Walter was a member of American Legion Post 47, Ohio State Gun Traders Association, Midwest Gun Traders Association, and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He retired in 1979 as a mailman from the U.S. Post Office after 30 years of service. Surviving are daughters, Sandra (Al) Chapman of Lineville, Ala., and Debra Andrews of Fort Wayne; sons, Roger (Marty) Butler of Fort Wayne, David Butler of Houston, Texas, and John Butler of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and caregiver, Tammy Grunden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, in 1993; grandson, Jerry Butler; son-in-law, Steve Andrews; one sister; and one brother.
A Memorial Service is being held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home (6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne). Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Walter's honor may be directed to National Rifle Association.
