Rosalie Hofmann

Rosalie Hofmann passed away, surrounded by family on October 30, 2024 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was 86 years old. She was born on July 28, 1938 to the late Josef and Elizabeth Manes. Rosalie attended school in Salzburg, Austria. In 1951 she emigrated from Bremerhaven, Germany to Ellis Island with her parents, brother, Anton, and sister, Anna. The family settled in Indiana. In 1957, she married Gerhard Hofmann. For over 30 years Rosalie was a member of the United Methodist Women’s group, preparing banquet meals, Mission fundraising and working the church’s food bank. She volunteered for over 15 years for the Lissencephaly Network helping other grandparents navigate life with a special needs grandchild. Never losing pride in her German heritage, Rosalie loved cooking authentic meals and pastries for everyone. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Gerhard (Gary), daughters, Dianna Fitzgerald and Sandy (Tim Mungovan) Hofmann of Fort Wayne, and son Paul (Amie) Hofmann of Syracuse, New York; grandchildren Shaun, Jr., Gary, and Nicholas Fitzgerald; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Marek Fitzgerald. Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2024 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to Community Harvest Food Bank or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
