Ronald Dean Mason

Ronald “Ron” Dean Mason, 85, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away peacefully, February 5, 2023. Ronald was born July 26, 1937 to the late Glen Mayfield and Emma (Farmer) Brady, in Elizabethtown, Ill. Ronald graduated from Moline High School, Moline, Ill., in 1955. He married Marjorie (Cram) Dwight on April 25, 1959, who survives. Ronald graduated from Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, in 1960. He served in The United States Army National Guard of Illinois 1960-1966. He had begun working nights at International Harvester Co., East Moline, Ill., in 1956 while attending college. Ronald would work his way up to plant manager. Ronald married Suzanne (Kessler) Hungate on December 7, 1972. She preceded him in death. Ronald continued working for International Harvester, Co., until 1983, when he moved to Indianapolis, Ind., and began working for Navistar. He later worked at ICM/Krebsoge in Van Wert, Ohio after moving to Fort Wayne, Ind. Ronald retired in 1995. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching sports and going to garage sales. Ronald had a deep love of baseball, especially the Saint Louis Cardinals. He loved being outdoors and doing yard work. Ronald had the best sense of humor. He rarely met a stranger he didn’t speak to, smile at, or help in some way. Most of all, Ronald was deeply loyal and loved his God, his country and family. He leaves behind children, Jeffrey Mason of Rock Island, Ill., Matthew (Brandy) Mason of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Amy (Jeff) Koch of Leo, Ind.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Glenda (Mayfield) Crabb of Golconda, Ill. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E State Blvd., Fort Wayne, Ind., with calling one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, with military honors. Arrangements are being handled by D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, Fort Wayne, Ind.
