Roger Douglas Lowe
August 26, 1944 – February 16, 2016

Roger Douglas Lowe, 71, of Huntertown, crossed over into Heaven to join his loved ones who have gone before him on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born August 26, 1944 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Myron and Anna (Uncapher) Lowe. Roger graduated from Elmhurst High School, Ball State University where he achieved a BS in Mathematics Education, and Western Michigan University where he achieved a Masters of Education in School Counseling. After teaching math at Kekionga Middle School, he went on to finish his career of 37 years at Shawnee Middle School; from which he retired. He was a member of Huntertown United Methodist Church and lifetime member of the Fort Wayne Education Association (FWEA) & the Indiana State Teaching Association (ISTA). He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Smeltzer) Lowe of Huntertown; daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Hesler of Crawfordsville, Ind., Elizabeth (David) Stroh of Columbus, Ind., and Tami (Chad) Weisenburger of Navarre, Fla; son, Derek (Stephanie) Hutsell of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; brother, James (Christine) Lowe of Fort Wayne; sister, Carolyn (Robert) Parrot of Fort Wayne; and his two yorkies, Bailey and Bentley. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Stevenson. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00pm Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Entombment to follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntertown United Methodist Church or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
