Obituary of Richard Mikol Taulbee
Richard Mikol Taulbee, 71, of Fort Wayne passed away Monday October 21st, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 3,1953 in Fort Wayne to Palmer and Betty (Lemmel) Taulbee. He married the love of his life, Sheli (Winans) in 1979. Rick graduated from Snider High School in 1971 and went on to have a long and successful career with Cummins Sales and Service of Fort Wayne. Rick was known for his kindness, generosity, patience, and willingness to help anyone, anywhere, any time. He was a handyman extraordinaire and could fix anything. Rick had a fun sense of humor, was quick to smile and gave the best hugs. He loved his family endlessly and loved spending time with his grandsons, playing games and supporting them in their chosen activities. They fondly called him the “pesterer” as he strived to engage with them in fun ways. Simply put, he was the best husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. Rick enjoyed music, taught guitar and played for many years in a band, the “Sound Effects.” He enjoyed boating, water skiing, and fishing while at the lake in Angola and Morse Lake in Noblesville. He enjoyed traveling and over the years visited Turkey, California, Mexico, Canada and after retirement spent time in Florida and Arizona. Most recently in July, he experienced ranch life riding horses in Wyoming with family. Rick loved his truck and continually insisted he “needed a new one.” He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheli; son, Kevin Taulbee of Fort Wayne; daughter, Karen (Jon) Rosser of Carmel; two grandchildren, Jack and Reed Rosser. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Taulbee. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow the services at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
