Obituary of Nora Jean Anderson
NORA J. ANDERSON, 88, of Fort Wayne, went to her Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center. She graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1946 and Madonna College, Livonia, MI, in 1982. She was married to Vergil C. Anderson Jr. for 61 years; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2009. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, retired from F.W.C.S. (Portage and Lindley) after 17 years of service; volunteer and Executive Director of Hospice of Western Wayne County from 1985 to 1989; and was a founding member, along with her husband, of the Elmhurst Alumni Association, in 1991. She enjoyed reading and sewing, and spending time with friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma whose greatest joy was her family, being part of their lives and watching them grow. Nora's caring spirit towards people and her genuine compassion blessed her with many friendships. Her steadfast faith in Jesus provided her with a daily peace and confidence, which was an encouragement to family and friends. Nora is survived by son, Steven Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Read; aunt, Marguerite Krick; sister-in-law, Elfrieda Anderson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Flanagan, Melissa (Bill) Masura, Elisabeth Read, Matthew (Sara) Read, Jason (Deborah) Read, and Katie Read; great- grandchildren, Emma, Annastasia, Nathan, Kaylyn, John, Lucy, Lyla, Emerson, Charlotte, Hudson, Norah, and baby Read due in April; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a young son, Dennis Keith; mother, Flossie Maier; daughter-in-law, Sandra Anderson; and brother, Roy L. Maier. Nora and her family express their gratitude to Visiting Nurse, Visiting Angels and Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Klaehn, FahI & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Kathleen Haller and the Rev. Jason Read officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
