Obituary of Mary Lou Schoeph
Mary Lou Schoeph, 80, of Fort Wayne went to heaven on July 8, 2021, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. She was born May 3, 1941, to the late Ray and Mary (Harmeyer) Disler. Spending time with family and friends was Mary Lou’s greatest joy. She and her husband, Charlie, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January. She was a loving and nurturing mother to her three children and adored her eight grandchildren and great-grandson. Mary Lou loved cooking and baking. She brought her family together every week for Sunday dinners. Never wanting to be the center of attention, she devoted her life to others, giving gifts, sending cards, and bringing baked goods to anyone in need. She shared her Christian faith through her words, actions, and giving spirit. Mary Lou was blessed with many close friends in her neighborhood, at church, and at the YMCA where she attended water aerobics. She was an avid Purdue fan and loved playing cards, especially Euchre. She retired from Portage Middle School where she worked as a sign language interpreter. Mary Lou will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Schoeph, daughter, Kelly (Dale) Hackett Borne, and sons, Kerry (Cheryl) Schoeph, and Joe (Mindi) Schoeph. She was the loving Nani of Amanda, Melissa, Kara, Adam, Justin, Olivia, Maya, and Nick, and great-Nani to Evan. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia (Stu) Schwalm of West Virginia, and her brother, Harold (Joyce) Disler of Florida. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Disler, her sister, Bonnie Shrock, and her son-in-law, Frank Hackett. A celebration of life will be on Friday, July 16th at 11 A.M. with visitation from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Getz Road.
