Lois Ann Deputy
January 20, 1932 – December 27, 2022

After completing a full and meaningful life, Lois Deputy (90) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Rawlins House Nursing Home with her daughter and son in law by her side. She was born January 20, 1932 in Ft. Wayne, IN to the late Lenora and Simon Hanes. After graduating from Central High School, Lois attended Franklin College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. While there, she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and met her husband of 60 years, Richard “Dick” Deputy.
After marrying Dick in1956, and starting a family, Lois spent her career teaching second and third grades throughout Fort Wayne Community Schools. During this time, she also completed her Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. Lois was an active member of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church. When not helping with volunteer work for the church, she and Dick loved reading to, planning trips, and activities, helping with science fair projects, and spending time with each of their grandchildren. In later years, Lois loved seeing and hearing what her “grown-up” grandchildren were doing and getting together with friends. Lois leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth (Randy) Farmer, son Matthew (Lisa) Deputy, and grandchildren Weston (Allison) Geyer, Bryce Deputy, Michael (Jessica) Farmer, Sarah (Jade) Farmer, and Jon Hales. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Dick and sister Martha. Funeral service will be 1pm Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Reverend Mary Cloud presiding. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11am to 1pm.
