Obituary of Leonard "Lenny" Joseph Guerra
Leonard “Lenny” Joseph Guerra, 48, of Fort Wayne, passed away due to complications of COVID-19 on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital. Born November 2, 1972 in Decatur, Ind., he was raised in Decatur and was a graduate of Belmont High School. He furthered his education at Ivy Tech where he studied Plumbing and Electrical. Lenny was most recently employed with Brunswick Fort Wayne Operations and had also worked at the YMCA in Bluffton, Ind. A generous and friendly man, he attended The Pointe Church in Fort Wayne until 2018. Leonard had many friends and would help anyone he could. He volunteered at the jails in Wells and Adams counties, preaching to inmates. He enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball team and traveling with his daughters. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Sherry (Hatten) Guerra of Fort Wayne; daughters, Makayla and Jocelyn Guerra of Fort Wayne; son, Joseph Jordan Guerra of Fort Wayne; sister, April (Dennis) Rife of Fort Wayne; grandparents, Jose (Herlinda) Guerra of Alamo, Texas; best friends of the family, J.J. and Zack Martin of Milton, Wisc., and Chasity McGullivary of Spencerville, Ind.; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Santiaga Guerra; grandparents, Leonard and Clarabelle Hatten; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Per Leonard’s request, there are no services scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in care of Sherry Guerra for Makayla’s and Jocelyn’s Educational Fund.
