Ida Williams

Ida (Rencher) Williams was born on March 28, 1921 to Lincoln Sr. and Malinda Rencher in rural Uniontown, Alabama. She was the seventh child of fifteen children. God called her home on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the age of 100 years old.
She accepted Christ at an early age when she joined Mount Miriah Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama. Once she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, she joined Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Dixie, Sr.
Ida, fondly known as Molly or Gramp enjoyed cooking, relaxing while drinking a cup of coffee, watching her soaps and going to church. Her hobbies were sewing and crocheting.
She worked at General Electric for many years before leaving to care for her daughter Debbie. Ida was a Daddy’s girl and often referred to his many quotes. She was a quiet humble person that always put Christ and others first. She often said with pride, that her greatest achievement in life were her children.
In her later years, Debbie and she moved to Snellville, Georgia to be with her two oldest daughters.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Laney D. Williams Sr. Her parents Lincoln Sr. and Malinda Rencher. Her son, Fern Williams Sr. and her daughter, Faye Andrews. Her sisters, Eliza Page, Rachel Chapman, Callie Dansby, Sophia Davis, Luvada Hogue and Diana Rencher. Her brothers, Ernest Rencher, Lincoln Rencher, Robert Rencher, Henry Rencher and Thomas Rencher. Her favorite aunt, Lula B. Henley and her favorite cousin, Dicy Turner.
Ida leaves to cherish her memory to her sons, E.L. (Joyce) Johnson of Toney, AL and Laney D. Williams Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN. Daughters, Violet Johnson of Snellville, GA, Julia (Billy) Hicks of Lawrenceville, GA, and Deborah Williams of Snellville, GA. Sisters, Theornia “Tony” Williams and Malinda Duck” Jackson both of Fort Wayne, IN. Ellen “Koot” Murray of Joliet, IL. Sister-in-laws, Elaine Rencher of Fort Wayne, IN and Clara Rencher of Uniontown, AL. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ida will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery
