Gary Allen Schaefer

Gary Allen Schaefer, 64, of Columbia City, IN passed away on May 6, 2017. He brought up his family to love Christ, help others, work hard and laugh hard. He also loved to vacation and travel in the United States finding great points in history and a love for collecting old things. For the past 10 years Gary worked at Bathfitter in sales. Gary was born on December 23, 1952 in Columbia City, IN to the late Earl Glenn and Ellen Maizie (Knight) Schaefer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Penny Hoag and his brother, Russell Schaefer. Gary is survived by his wife, Stacey Schaefer; children, Steven (Gretchen) Schaefer, Kimberly (Todd) Green; Angela (David) Herbst) and Christian Baker; grandchildren, Cody, Hannah, Ian, Dylan, and Isabella Schaefer, Micaiah, Noah, and Mazie Green, Madeline, Wyatt, and Addison Herbst; siblings, Richard and Joseph (Jodi) Schaefer; brother-in-law, Gerald Hoag; sister-in-law, Shelley (J.R.) Halter; and a host of nieces and nephews. Per Gary's wishes he chose to have no visitation or service but a private service will be held for family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Smile Train Charity. Arrangements under the direction of C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
