OBITUARY
Eugene G Deininger
November 28, 1929 – July 10, 2013
Eugene G. Deininger, 83, entered into eternal life Wednesday, July 10, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on Thanksgiving Day 1929, Gene was the son of Albert and Golda Deininger. He received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he attended grade school. In 1947 he graduated from Central Catholic High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Japan during the Korean Conflict. In November of 1953 Gene and Theresa were married at St. Joseph-Hessen Cassel Catholic Church. After retiring in 1991 from Shambaugh & Son, he enjoyed traveling, woodworking and spending countless hours with his grandchildren. He built each of his children and grandchildren rocking horses and shared many family vacations with them in Walt Disney World. Gene was a member of St. Joseph-Hessen Cassel from 1955 until he returned to St. Peters during the summer of 2011. Surviving are sons, Stephen (Darlene) and Thomas (Rita) Deininger; daughters, Linda (Kip) Schinnerer, Janet Deininger, Kaye (Brian) Parker, and Beth (Bryan) Moore; grandchildren, Stacey (Dennis), Brad, Melissa, Chase, Elizabeth, Krista Gene, Matthew, Loretta, Jenna, Emily, Jared, Nate, Joel, Mitchell Gene, and Ben; great granddaughters, Ella, Cailin, and Avery; his sister, Loretta Meinzen, sister in-laws Wanda, Betty, and Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Marie Minnick; sisters, Marcella, Gertrude, Helen, Anna, Mary, and Lucille; brothers, Paul, Richard, Albert, Joseph, and Lawrence. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday July 14 at Klaehn, Fahl, Melton Funeral Home, 420 West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne. Mass of Christian burial is at 10:30 a.m. with calling one hour prior at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 518 East Dewald Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46803. He will be buried next to his wife in St. Joseph-Hessen Cassel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
