Elaine E. Shimer

Elaine E. Shimer, 81, of Fort Wayne passed away, Monday, March 5, 2012. She was born on April 20, 1930 in Kewanee, IL to the late Claude C. and Addie (Snyder) Hamilton. She worked as a secretary at Lutheran Hospital for more than thirty years. She was a past president of the Fort Wayne Junior Civic Society and enjoyed collecting antiques, sailing, and following current affairs and politics. Surviving family include her husband of 61 years, J. Robert Shimer of Fort Wayne; children, Nancy (Richard) Rehling of Syracuse, IN, Jayne (Jack) Vossen of Anchorage, AK, J. Robert Shimer, II of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Amy Compton, Elizabeth Kompagne, Kathryn Rehling, Kristy Brown, Ted Vossen; and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old trail Road, Fort Wayne with visitation two hours prior. Burial will take place at Hill Crest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
