Obituary of Edward "Ed" William Pfister
Edward “Ed” William Pfister, 79, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Grey Stone Health & Rehabilitation of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born November 10, 1942, in Van Wert, Ohio, the son of the late Elmer W. Pfister and Martha McGee. Ed worked in the Heat Treat Department at Dana Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Kendallville and was very active teaching Bible Study classes. He was known as “Steady Eddy” at church and his neighborhood, and will be remembered for his delicious chocolate chip cookies. Ed was an avid golfer, an Ohio State Fan, and he enjoyed taking long walks daily. Ed is survived by his daughters, Helen (Mike Rohrer) Taulbee of Fort Wayne, IN, Pamela Sue (Ted) Roberts of Louisville, KY; granddaughters, Amanda (Kyle) Foster of Anderson, IN, Alicia (Jeffrey) Elkins of Huntington, IN; great-grandchildren, Ruby Ann, Aurora Madelyn, Shirissa Scarlett, Charlotte Rose and Braxton. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon McLaughlin of Fort Wayne, IN, and Patricia (Bill) Cook of Grabill, IN. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Madelyn “Mattie” Pfister; siblings, Richard Pfister, Dan McGee, John McGee; and a brother-in-law, Tom McLaughlin. A funeral service to honor Ed's life and legacy will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at First Christian Church, 110 West Waits Road, Kendallville, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. He will be laid to rest at Huntertown Cemetery. Memorial donations in his honor may be directed to the First Christian Church of Kendallville.
