Edna Mae Cecelia Hedeen, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville, IN, under the care of Parkview Hospice and surrounded by family. Mrs. Hedeen was born on December 30, 1921 to parents Charles and Angeline (Aman) Tagtmeyer.
Mrs. Hedeen married Francis David Hedeen on December 26, 1938. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2007. Mrs. Hedeen was the last surviving sibling of seven children born into the Tagtmeyer family. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by infant son, David Hedeen, siblings Le Nora (John) Douglas, Fred (Helen) Tagtmeyer, Louis (Valerie) Tagtmeyer, Charles (Wanita) Tagtmeyer, John (Viola) Tagtmeyer, Gertrude (Carl) Boxberger, sister in law, Rosemary (Oliver) Brown, nephews, James Tagtmeyer and Michael Tagtmeyer and beloved son in law, Joseph Caparrotti.
Mrs. Hedeen was affectionately known as “Aunt PL” (Papa’s Lady), “Aunt Eddie” and “Gran”. She was a member of the last graduating class from St. Mary’s High School. She was wife, mother, homemaker, seamstress, gardener, cook, ceramics instructor (owning studio Claymates located in Fort Wayne, IN), avid reader, garage saler extraordinaire and the best Gran this earthly world has ever known. She always said because she had no living grandparents, she did not know how a grandmother should behave. Her life’s calling was being a loving and devoted grandmother.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her daughter, Dianna Caparrotti, her son, Larry (Claudia Helene) Hedeen, her grandchildren, Maria (Greg) Camburn, Greta Sirois, Francesca (Greg) Jones, Joseph (Ksusha) Hedeen, Claudia Jeanette Hedeen and David Hedeen and great-grandchildren, Sarah (Davis Yeo) Caparrotti, Michael Camburn, Lela Troyer, Suzanne Camburn, Dahra Sirois, Samuel Jones, Lucia Jones, Yvette Hedeen and Beatrice Hedeen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Mrs. Hedeen would like to thank Parkview Hospice and Lutheran Life Villages for the exemplary care provided during her final years.
