Obituary of Edgar J Freiburger
Edgar J. Freiburger, 84, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He died peacefully at home during Divine mercy Hour at 3:20 p.m. We thank God for the gift of Edgar, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, and grandpa. Born January 6, 1926 in Allen County, son of Ambrose and Veronica (Harber) Freiburger, he served as U.S. Army Sergeant First Class in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Edgar and Opal (Reed) were married 56 years on May 1, 2010. In addition to years of farming and gardening, Edgar worked at the Seed House, Kroger Warehouse, Wayne Plastics, Z-Brick, and Mechanics Laundry. He was a member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder and Roanoke American Legion Post 160. Surviving are his wife, Opal A. (Reed) of Ossian; sons, Anthony J. Freiburger of Bluffton and Mark A. Freiburger (Mona) of Danville, IN; daughter, Connie T. Freiburger-Ashton (James) of Uniondale; brother, Quentin (Rosemary) Freiburger of Yoder; sister, Myrtle Dinger of Payne, OH; three grandchildren, Bradley J. Freiburger, Daniel E. Freiburger and Kelly O. Freiburger. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norman, Philip and Myron Freiburger; and two sisters, Bernice Schuller and Alice Gordon. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2010 at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church, Yoder, IN. Father Jacob A. Gordon officiating with concelebrant Father Dominique Carboneau. Father Jacob A. Gordon is the grandson of Edgar’s sister, Alice and Ray Gordon. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Burial in Saint Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials are to masses, to Saint Aloysius Catholic Church or to donor’s choice of charities.
