Catherine C. Schieferstein Schwartz

Catherine C. Schieferstein Schwartz, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at Coventry Meadows. She was born June 29, 1924 in Wells County to the late Walter C. and Laura L. (Lipp) Dinkel. She retired as a bookkeeper and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Melvin Schwartz of Fort Wayne; children, David (Teri Phipps) Schieferstein of Richmond, VA, Rick Schieferstein of Denver, CO, and Karen (Guy) Smith of McMurray, PA; three grandchildren; step children, Cindy (Mark) Johnson of Costa Mesa, CA, Diane (Jim) Witzenman of Fort Wayne, Craig (Marlene) Schwartz of Ellettsville, IN, and Gary (Kathie) Schwartz of Fishers, IN; 13 step grandchildren, and 12 step great grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her 1st husband, Richard A. Schieferstein in 1986; son, Richard Arthur Schieferstein, II in 1948, and daughter, Susan Kay Schieferstein in 1949. Funeral service is Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Dr., Fort Wayne, IN 46819 with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation is also Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
