Obituary of Barbara Irene Gomez
Barbara Irene Gomez, age 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on November 6, 2023, at Byron Health Center. Born July 14, 1940 in Fort Wayne, IN, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. Baker and Elizabeth Alice (Mooney) Meyers. Barbara was a student at Central High School and graduated with her GED in 1988. She married Antero (Ted) Gomez, June 4, 1960. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ted, who went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2023. Barbara was employed at Target as a Supervisor from 1980-1985, Evangel Christian Center as Secretary from 1985-1987 and Covington Travel from 1988-1990. She had a great love for reading but especially a passion in studying the Bible. She was an animal lover, a bird watcher and loved long walks on the PufferBelly Trail with her little dog, Lucky. We will miss her smile and laughter and treasure all our last moments with her. Despite the trials of dementia, she never lost memory of her family, friends and her deep abiding faith in Christ. Barbara is survived by her sons, Antero (Ted) Gomez, Jr. and Timothy (Paula) Gomez; daughters, Christina (Kurt) Davis and Lisa Gomez-Osborn; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Corey) Clancy, Tyler Davis, Wesley (Erin) Osborn, Joshua Gomez, Aaron Davis, Wyatt Osborn, and Bryce Davis; and three great-grandchildren, Nola, Caellum and Raegan Clancy. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Mae (Baker) Lesh; brothers, Danny Baker and Harold Zonker. We also would like to give special thanks to Lutheran Life Villages and her last, home care facility of Byron Health Center. The love, patience and support of all the nurses and staff will be treasured and forever appreciated in our hearts. Funeral Service is 10:00 am Saturday, November 18, at Harvest Fellowship, 1001 W Wallen Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825 with calling one hour prior. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Deeper Still Northeast Indiana, PO Box 11351, Knoxville, TN 37939.
