Obituary of Susan Vaughan Tadayon
Susan Vaughan Tadayon was a passionate educator, a caring daughter and sister, a devoted mother, and a wonderful wife. She passed peacefully at home on July 13, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born to Linda and James Vaughan on January 1, 1965 in Monterey, California and was a loving sister to her younger brother, Douglas Vaughan. She later moved to Washington, D.C. where she met her husband, Nader Tadayon, in 1987. Susan and Nader enjoyed 37 years of marriage and together they had two daughters, Sara and Samira. Susan was always motivated to serve her community. In her work with the American Red Cross, she made dramatic improvements to the National Marrow Donor Registry, which significantly reduced the time to find a matching donor. She became an elementary school teacher after leaving the Red Cross, and chose to dedicate her days to working with young English language learners. Susan loved to travel, and was happiest when living out of her suitcase. No language barrier could stop her from making friends wherever she traveled. Music was a pillar of joy in her life and she was a prominent member of a community of music fans. She was also an avid reader who strongly believed in the power of a good book. Though she will be missed greatly, her kindness and compassion have left behind a lasting legacy for all who knew her. A funeral service is scheduled for July 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the National Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Falls Church.
