James A Johnson Jr. James Alton Johnson Jr., 63, departed this life on March 10, 2024. James was born on April 4, 1960, in Washington D.C. to James Johnson Sr. and Blanche Harriford (Dade). James grew up in Alexandria, VA, where he graduated from T.C. Williams in 1979. He was known for singing in the choir in high school as well as in church at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Alexandria VA. After graduating he chose the path of joining the Army in 1983 and then later transferred to the National Guard, where he received an honorable discharge. James found his new passion after his service with the National Guard and that was working as a truck driver. He could whip those 18 wheelers like driving a Volkswagen Beetle with ease and finesse. Over the course of his life, he worked with various companies driving and moving people. If anyone ever needed to move, you could call James and he would be right there because that was the type of person he was kind and generous always willing to help others. He loved to sing and enjoyed various gospel songs and his 90’s R&B music while singing along. He spent time volunteering in Alexandria, VA with various non-profit organizations with his nieces and that brought him joy. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Teaching them how to cook and making his favorite dessert banana pudding. James is preceded in death by his father James Johnson Sr., his Sisters Jessie Mae Johnson and Dorothy Mae Marrow, his grandparents Edward and Alleane LaPrade James is survived by his mother: Blanche Dade of Clarksburg, MD, his children: Jermaine of Reston, VA, Jasmine of Woodbridge, VA, and Tiffney of Alexandria, VA. His sisters; Sharon Gbenoba of Alexandria, VA, Ruby Dade of Clarksburg, MD, Eight grandchildren: Kaylei, Terrence, Stephen, Tyler, Josiah, Yazmin, Jason, and Mikayla. As well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, close family and friends.
