J. Rex Watkins
March 23, 1921 – February 28, 2019

J. Rex Watkins, Sigma Chi Class of 1949 at the University of Kansas, passed away on February 28, 2019. He was 97 years old.
He fought in WWII with the U.S. Army’s 75th Division, serving from 1943-1945 in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, Vosges-Colmar region, and Central Europe. He is the recipient of the French Legion of Honor Medal and earned the Bronze Star Medal. He remained in the Reserves and retired as a Lt Colonel. His civilian career led him to travel and live throughout the world, to include Asia, Hawaii, and Europe.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Marianne Watkins of Reston, VA, and his three children: Lynne Watkins of Pleasant Hills, CA; Jay Watkins and his spouse Dianne of McLean, VA; and Brooke Watkins McLeod and her spouse Neil of Annandale, Va. and four grandchildren Caroline Watkins, Ian McLeod and his fiancé Tori, Michael Malvini, and Madeleine Malvini Pasjuta and her spouse Cole.
A service will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, McLean, VA and he will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
