Helen Gheen Earman passed away at home on May 22, 2016. She lived in Vienna, Virginia for the past ninety two years. Born at home on Beulah Road, Vienna, Virginia on November 19, 1923 to Ernest Gheen and Amy Denison. She entered Vienna Elementary in 1929 and attended Fairfax High School (now Paul VI) until 1939 when she left to care for her dying mother and run the family home. She met Millard Kenneth Earman from Falls Church on the dance floor at the Vienna Fire Department and married him November 1946 after he returned from serving the Army in WWII. Worked as a topical draftsman for the Army Map Service from 1942 to 1950. She joined the Ladies Auxiliary Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department in 1947. She became a member of the Virginia State Firefighter Association in 1950. She has held many positions in both and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fairfax County Firefighter Association. She served with the same dedication as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9274 from 1960 to 1985 and in various community activates. Helen attended Antioch Christian Church and Andrew Chapel Methodist Church in Vienna and has been a member of Providence Baptist Church in McLean since 1962.
She leaves behind two children and their spouses, Kenneth and Anita Earman of Greenville, Virginia and David and Laura Dye of Clifton, Virginia. Seven grandchildren, Karin and Brian Griglak, David and Mae Earman, Millard Earman, Keith and Hilary Dye, three great granddaughters, Sydney and Aubrey Earman, Caitlyn Mary Dye, a great-grandson, Connor Dye and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
She preceded in death by her husband, Captain Millard (Bull) Earman and four brothers, David, John, Sam and Bob Gheen.
