Obituary of Crystal Marie Owens
Crystal Marie Owens, aged 34, died suddenly at Fair Oaks Hospital on October 13, 2020. Beloved Mother of Shane M. Owens. Cherished daughter of Vicki Mills Owens and Gary Owens. Crystal is also survived by her sister Heather Owens and nephew Carter Jackson both of whom she thought the world of. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Mary Ellen Yowell Mills and Nelson A. Mills and her paternal grandparents Mary Erskine Owens and William “Billy” Owens. Others left to cherish her memory are great aunts, great uncles, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. All of which loved her dearly. Crystal was born at Fairfax Hospital and was a lifelong resident of Fairfax County. She enjoyed staying indoors and appreciating Virginia through the people she met. Crystal’s comfort was family, her furry friends and Wendy’s. She liked sweatpants, the perfect temperature, and fun conversations. The entire family has enjoyed that she always danced to the beat of a different drummer and was herself during her short time on Earth. Crystal had a kind and giving soul, she was a sweet woman. She cared about everyone and never met a stranger. Crystal could talk to anybody. Crystal’s education started at Deer Park Elementary, Stone Middle School and then graduated from Westfield High School in 2005. She loved her last job as a hostess with Texas Roadhouse, Chantilly where she got to greet people with her fabulous smile and met incredible coworkers. Crystal was a volunteer with the pet rescue A Forever Home where she and her family fostered many dogs and puppies. She enjoyed fostering and the blessing of meeting the wonderful volunteers that work with AFH. Crystal loved taking cooking classes and doing boy scout events with her son, Shane. She was amazed and delighted at his interest and ability with technology. Their bond was undeniable. Crystal gave all of herself to her family and friends. When she asked you “how are you doing”, she listened to and cared about the answer. Her smile, giggle and genuine kindness to all people and animals alike will be missed by everyone who knew her. Services will be held at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia on Sunday November 8, 2020. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 followed by the funeral service at 3:00. There will be a private burial. The family requests that whether you are attending in person or watching online that you are casual and comfortable in memory of Crystal.
