Robert Valentino Rota

Robert Valentino Rota passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022, he was 87 years young. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Shelva Jean Rota, and parents Valentino Giacomo Rota and Erminia Doriguzzi. Bob was born on March 19, 1935, in Pennsylvania where he met the love of his life, Shelva Jean Ricci. They were happily married for an incredible 64 years. Bob is survived by his brother William (Bill), daughter Sabrina Jean, son’s Robert V., Jr. & wife Annette, and Daniel William & wife Lara. Grandchildren Chase A. Townsend; Robert V. III, and Savana A. and Cecelia C. Rota. Bob’s accomplishments were extensive serving in the following congresses: 92nd (1971-1973), 93rd (1973-1975), 94th (1975-1977), 95th (1977-1979), 96th (1979-1981), 97th (1981-1983) 98th (1983-1985), 99th (1985-1987), 100th (1987-1989), 101st (1989-1991), 102nd (1991-1993) ROTA, Robert V., born in Clarksville, Greene County, Pa., 1935; staff, United States House of Representatives folding room, circa 1957; staff, United States Representative Wright Patman of Texas; staff, United States Representative Cecil R. King of California; staff, Office of the Doorkeeper, United States House of Representatives, circa 1964-1968; assistant manager, Democratic cloakroom, United States House of Representatives; manager, Democratic cloakroom, United States House of Representatives; elected Postmaster of the United States House of Representatives to the Ninety-second and to the ten succeeding Congresses until his resignation on March 19, 1992 (July 1, 1972-March 19,1992). Bob’s love of his horses and riding were his true passion. He enjoyed his farm with his wife and family with all his heart. He was such a generous, bigger-than-life man who enjoyed telling his stories to whomever his audience was. Bob will be missed tremendously by all his family and friends, but will forever remain in our hearts. As a ‘nod to Bob’, the family requests that you wear navy blue to honor him.
