Peggy Mutton passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 7, 2015. Peggy spent her life bringing love and happiness to her family and many friends. She is survived by her two children, Tom (Michelle) Mutton and Melanie (Justin) Richey and her six grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, Emily and Abigail Mutton and Aiden and Mason Richey. She was a loving and caring sister to her five sisters and their families, Joan (Vijay) Gupta, Phyllis (John) Rowland, Betty (David) Jewell, Robin (Dewayne) Green and Becky (Brad) Cook. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Peggy was born on February 8, 1944 to Walter and Edith Blankenship. She met her husband, Tom, after moving to northern Virginia, and they were married on August 15, 1964. They were married for 43 years prior to Tom’s passing in 2007. Peggy had a long, successful career at General Services Administration, from which she retired after working there for over 30 years.
Throughout her adult life, Peggy was an active member of the Mountain Mission School Alumni Association. Peggy was a proud graduate of Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia. Peggy spent countless hours supporting the school’s mission to serve children in need. In honor of Peggy’s love and commitment to Mountain Mission School, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peggy Mutton Memorial Fund, in care of Mountain Mission School Alumni Association, 1760 Edgewater Drive, Grundy, VA 24614.
