Thomas E. Marshall
April 20, 1927 – October 25, 2021

Thomas Everett Marshall, 94, of Evansville, IN passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at River Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on April 20, 1927 to Everett and Fannie Marshall.
After graduating from Reitz High School, Tom enlisted in the Army and played on the Army baseball team in Europe. He later attended Indiana University. In 1949 and 1950, Tom was a left-handed pitcher in the Boston Red Sox minor league system. He retired from Ellis Park as a Parimutuel Clerk. Tom was born, raised and lived on Reitz Hill until marrying Deanna 20 years ago. Together they enjoyed taking ballroom dance lessons for several years and had previously belonged to the Friday Night Dance Club, the Coterie Club and the Metro Club. He also enjoyed walking at the mall and watching the NBA. Tom attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” Marshall and sister, Mary Ann Bryson.
Tom is survived by his wife Deanna (Wesselman) Ludwig Marshall; step-daughter, Karla Smith (Keith); step-son, Jeff Ludwig (Missy); step-grandchildren, Kyle Smith (Sammye), Seth Ludwig (Brittany), Stephanie Ludwig (fiancée Derek Ransdell) and Stetson Ludwig; step-great grandchildren, Hadley and Dean Smith; nephew, David “Dave” Marshall (Cheryl) and James Marshall (Sarah).
The family is very appreciative and grateful to the staff of River Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation, and the staff of Heritage Hospice.
There will be no visitation and the funeral service will be private.
