Roy A. Patterson, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the Heritage Center. He was born October 11, 1926, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Allen and Alta (France) Patterson.
Roy was a 1943 Reitz graduate. He was a WWII Veteran serving with the Navy.
Roy was a founding member of the FLANDERS Electric family in 1947 when it was only three employees, including, himself. His exceptional work ethic, long-term commitment to customer service, unwavering desire to always do the right thing and his guiding principles to love others, and treat them as you would want to be treated and to serve others made him truly one of a kind. For over 55 years he enjoyed working full time up to the age of 89.
Roy was a member of the Methodist Church in McCutchanville. He was the recipient of the EASA Exceptional Achievement Service Award. He belonged to the American Legion Post 351 in Elberfeld for over 60 years. He was graduate of Purdue University and also Dale Carnegie. He was an avid golfer.
Roy was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Theresa Patterson; two great grandchildren; and brother, Lloyd Patterson
Roy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mariline (Holtz) Patterson; sons, David Patterson (Linda), Don Patterson of Heath, TX, and Dan Patterson (Debbie); grandchildren, Allen (Jane), Joseph (Amanda), Douglas (Carrie), Sarah, Casondra, Craig (Lindsey) and Catie Patterson; 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 4, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial in McCutchanville Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
