Obituary of Robert H. Parker
Robert H. Parker, 99, of Evansville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. He was born December 15, 1917, in Centerville, TN to the late Samuel and Annie (England) Parker. He loved to tell stories of his moonshining days in Tennessee. After moving to Evansville as a young man, he worked various jobs. He worked as a blacksmith for 30 years at Mesker Steel before retiring in 1980. Robert was most proud of his family and his love and faith in the Lord. He was a good and faithful servant to Grace Point Church in Evansville. Robert was a loving husband to Nellie Burress Parker for 30 years, before her passing in 1977, and to Elanora Ricketts Parker for 30 years, before her passing in 2008. He was a loving father to his children, James (Faye) Dickson of Evansville, Shela (Russell) Boyer of Rockport, and Jan Remington , deceased (Ken). Robert is also survived by his grandchildren, Theresa Mayhugh, Roxann Crayne, Jay Henderson, Laci Boyer, Craig Boyer, Kevin Catiller, Kim Catiller, Angie Creek and Jerry Remington; brother, Clint (Hester) Parker of Dickson, TN; and sister, Mayzell Parker of Centerville, TN. The family would like to thank Pastor Luke Smith, and friend Bishop Sam Smith for their faithfulness to visit and their continued prayers. They would also like to thank Newburgh Healthcare for they were part of his family for the past seven years. Daddy talked about going “home” and had dreams of being in heaven with his Lord and Savior. We are sad, but know he is finally “home”. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Bishop Sam Smith, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Point Church, 11 W. Iowa St., Evansville, IN 47710. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
