January 16, 1929 – August 27, 2022

Mary T. Simpson, 93, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown. She was born January 16, 1929, in Hawesville, Kentucky.
Mary’s primary occupation was a fabulous homemaker. However, in her late teens she began her working career at the Evansville State Hospital where she met John Neumann, husband of Mary’s deceased sister, Lucille. Also, quite significantly, at the State Hospital, she met her future husband, Paul H. Simpson, through Paul’s sister Ruby who worked with Mary. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 427 Ladies Auxiliary and the Council on Aging. She and her deceased husband of 74 years, Paul, enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, ballroom dancing and playing cards.
She is survived by son, Herb Simpson (Debby); daughter, Toni F. Harmon (Carlie); son, Gary A. Simpson (Brenda); daughter, Angela R. Redmon; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Payne (Julie); and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Kessler officiating. Entombment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
