Obituary of Marilyn June Perigo
Marilyn Perigo, age 91, passed away on September 26, 2022. Marilyn was born in Washington County, Indiana, on January 12, 1931, to Lawrence and Hazel Mahuron. She and her siblings, Bruce, Audrey, and Rosalie, enjoyed a great life growing up in the small town of Pekin. She attended local schools and then graduated from a business college in New Albany, Indiana, with an administrative degree. In 1951, she married Fred Perigo, and they moved to Evansville, Indiana, where they raised their family. Marilyn worked in the banking and lending business throughout her career. She started at the Evansville Morris Plan Company, then she was transferred to Credit Thrift Financial, and in 1988, American General Finance took over Credit Thrift Financial, and she remained there until she retired in 1993. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, attending the Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Evansville for over 70 years. An active member, she taught some children’s and ladies’ classes, helped with several service projects, and attended every service she could. Marilyn’s favorite hobby was traveling. She always said her middle name was “Go!” She traveled to Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the Dominican Republic. She and her mother Hazel, sister Audrey and her husband Bill, and brother Bruce and his wife Marcella took numerous bus tours to destinations throughout the United States. She enjoyed traveling with her three children and their families as well. She loved reading, typically a book a week. She especially loved taking care of and spending time with her family. A devoted mother, she did everything her children needed, a devoted sister, she took care of her oldest sibling in her later years, a devoted grandmother, she took care of her grandchildren so their parents could take trips, and a devoted great-grandmother, she attended sporting events, parties and celebrations. Always happy, always positive, she put everyone else first, and her laugh was infectious. She signed every card or note to family members with “Love You Forever!” She is survived by her son, Dean Perigo and his wife Janice, her daughter Beth Hoskins and her husband Steve, and her son, Dan Perigo and his wife Darla; grandsons, Jeff Perigo and his wife Kelsey, and David Perigo; granddaughters Taylor Hoskins, and Page Stalzer and her husband, Anthony, Lauren Perigo and her husband, Ryan Eichmiller, and Audrey Cadwalader and her husband, Garrett; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Berkley, Rosalie, Grayson, and Kai. Visitation will be at Alexander Funeral Home, East Chapel, October 5th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and the funeral service will be Thursday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Alan Bush. Interment will be in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Washington Avenue Church of Christ.
