IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-East Chapel
Ernest "Leroy" Miller, 76, of Evansville, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born on January 22, 1947 in Evansville to Jesse and Mamie (Jones) Miller.
He was a 1964 graduate of Central High School and served in the United States Army. Leroy had worked at General Tire and then retired from Mead Johnson/ Bristol Myers after 24 years. He was a member of Bethel Church. He enjoyed classic cars, attending the Frog Follies and taking his 1940 Studebaker to car shows. Leroy loved watching his grandsons play basketball, teasing his granddaughters, listening to country music, playing the guitar at the Evansville Farmers Market and traveling to Nebraska to help his son-in-law farm. He was a hard-working man who was very devoted to his family. Leroy didn't know a stranger and lived up to his nickname "Magic Leroy" because he could fix anything and was ready to help anyone.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mae Mosley; and stepbrother, Ulies Petty.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary (Muth) Miller; daughters, Jackie Knobbe (Kent) and Shelia Naab (Justin); grandchildren, Keira, Chloe, Kaden, and Cooper; brother, William Miller (Shirley); sister, Dessie Scholl; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Alexander East Chapel with Rev. David Schwambach officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
