Obituary of Iona Williams
Iona Williams, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior on September 21, 2024. Iona was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose world revolved around the joy and well-being of her family. She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Evelyn Fuller; her beloved husband, Chester Williams; her siblings, Norman Williams, Gerald Williams, Wilma Head, Evelyn Renshaw, and Myrna Krizek; and her son-in-law, Clifford Gibson. As the manager of the Applause Dinner Theater in downtown Evansville during the 1980’s she offered not just leadership, but also a spirit of kindness and encouragement to everyone around. Iona’s faith was her cornerstone. A devout Christian and prayer warrior, she was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana. Her love for Jesus radiated in every word of her beautiful Christian poetry, which touched the hearts of all who read it. She is survived by her loving twin sister, Leona Rames of Evansville, IN; her dear sister, Jimmie Adcock of Summerville, IN, and brother, Raymond Fuller of Dixon, MO. Her children, Lisa Gibson of Evansville, IN, Chet (Lee-Ann) Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Angie Hall (Robert) of Evansville, IN, will forever hold her close in their hearts. Her grandchildren—Josh Williams, Kyle Paisley, Jessica Lubensky, Chris Paisley, Brian Hall, Jacob Williams, and Sarah Gibson—were the apples of her eye. Her great-grandchildren, Hannah Williams, Caleb Williams, Cadence Lubensky, Eli Williams, Vivian Paisley, Lucy Williams, and Lark Williams, were the shining lights of her life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Alexander East Chapel in Evansville, Indiana. A homegoing celebration will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, led by Pastor Alan Scott of Oak Hill Baptist Church. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Envive Healthcare Pathways 1, whose tender care brought comfort in Iona's final days. The Homegoing Celebration will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/funeralstreamUSA beginning at 9:45 a.m. Iona will be laid to rest at Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana . Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
