Howard W. Schroeder

Howard W. Schroeder, 89, passed away May 30, 2014, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born in Waukegan, IL, on November 22, 1924, to the late Anna Mae and Walter Schroeder. Howard was a 1950 graduate of Eureka College. After college he pursued a career as a professional sales representative in the industrial chemical industry. He was active in the St. John’s East United Church of Christ Choir, Evansville, IN; Philharmonic Chorus, Evansville, IN; and Board of Directors, LPGA Rail Charity Golf Classic, Springfield, IL. He was also an active member in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Evansville, IN; Elks Lodge, Springfield, IL; and Free Masons, Waukegan, IL. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice G. Schroeder of Newburgh, IN; daughter, Becky Sari’ Popenoe of Newburgh, IN; son, Vincent Schroeder of Falls Church, VA; grandchildren, Lindsay Gentry, Eric Sanders, Erica Schroeder and Sophia Schroeder; sisters, Jane Kilponen and Marlene Snyder. The family will greet friends at 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. John’s East United Church of Christ, 7000 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church, with Rev. Ken Townsend officiating.
