Helen Ashby

Helen M. Ashby, 86, of Newburgh, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was born on February 9, 1934 in Ennis, Kentucky, to Elvin and Esmer (Knight) Downing. She was a beautician at the Evansville State Hospital and a machine operator at Central Industries. Helen was a member of Wayside Chapel in Chandler, Indiana. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deanne Chapman; sisters, Diane Downing and Nita Bowers; brother, J.D. Downing; and grandson, Jody Lehr. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald H. Ashby; grandson, Shane Knight (Laura); great-grandchildren, Cameron and Courtney Knight; step-son, Tony Ashby; granddaughter, Randi Hebner (Aaron); sister, Joyce Hatchett (Leon); brother, Dorris “Sonny” Downing (Sandra); and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ashby will be cremated with no services at Alexander East Chapel. Memorial contributions can be may to Wayside Chapel, 501 West Lincoln Avenue, Chandler, Indiana 47610.
