Edward "Ed" Wittman

Edward “Ed” Wittman, 85, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Terrace at Solarbron. He was born January 3, 1927, in Evanston, IN.
He moved to Evansville from Evanston, IN at the age of 14 to work as a farmhand for the Niederhaus and Bosse families. Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was proud of his German heritage and spoke fluent German, listing it as his primary language upon entering the service. He retired from Bristol Meyers after 35 years of service. For years, Ed was well known for and enjoyed repairing lawn mowers for many people in the community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Delores Wittman; and brother, Ruben Wittman.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Kellie Wittman of Atlanta, GA, and Hollie Wittman of Valencia, Spain; grandson, Guy Addison Miller; sister, Leoma Welsh; and brother, Alfred Wittman. Ed’s family is grateful for the friendship of Arlene Eppley.
Services were held at10:00 AM, Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kirk Horstmeyer, with burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Evanston, IN. Friends visited Wednesday, 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
