Obituary of Carling "Sue" Bender-Effinger
Carling “Sue” Bender-Effinger, 78, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021. She was born on April 23, 1943, in Nortonville, Kentucky to the late William and Vera (Foster) Parker. She was a motor route carrier for the Evansville Courier. Sue had been a member of Beacon Nazarene and was a current member of United General Baptist Church. She was a caregiver and a loving person. Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, Milo Bender, Jr.; son, Anthony Bender; and many sisters and brothers. Sue is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Melvin Effinger; daughters, Angela Bender Smith and Shannon Bender Collins (Scott); grandchildren, Shawlon Cronin (Chris), Jeremy (Kristi) and Noah Pounds, Sadi Collins, Dalton Collins, and Dustin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Gavin Pounds, Devin Johnson, and Jade Pounds; and sisters, Sybil Cuellor and Wanda Wagner. The family would like to thank Deaconess Home Health for all their wonderful care. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Rev. Raymond Abbott. A Private Family Burial will follow in Bender Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the funeral home.
