Obituary of Carl Max Laib
Carl Max Laib, 78, of Evansville, passed away June 11, 2013, at the Huntsville Alabama Hospital while traveling to Destin, FL to vacation with his family on the beach. Max and Charlene enjoyed many vacations, but always included their family on the annual beach trips. He was born September 7, 1934, in Ft. Branch, IN, to the late Joseph B. and Mildred “Tillie” (Westfall) Laib. Max retired from Whirlpool as an Engineer in 1996, where he designed refrigerators. He also enjoyed a career at Arkla Industries, where he designed and tested gas grills. He was a member of the Ft. Branch Masonic Lodge, where he was a third generation Master, and the Evansville Hadi Shrine. Max was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God where he and Charlene were greeters. He cooked for all church functions, the Fall Festival and at the Evansville Christian Life Center. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids how to fish. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast traveling with many friends to the races. Max loved to travel and had visited all 50 states in his lifetime. He loved to cook and entertain their many friends. Max was a kind husband, generous father and grandfather who was beloved by all. Max is survived by his wife, Charlene Marie (Ebinger) Laib; son, Terry (Kelly) Laib; daughter, Karla (Mike) Wingo; sons, Alan (Erin) Mueller and Chris (Allison) Mueller; daughter-in-law, Jane Laib; grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Barrow, Mallorie, Jenna and Tyler Laib, Colton, Caleb and Aidan Mueller and Hailey Mueller; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Barrow, and soon to arrive, Wyatt Barrow; sister, Nancy (Ron) Sells; niece, Tonya (Darrell) Paddock; nephew, Joe Sells; and many close friends. Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Bruce Applegate. Burial services will be 8:30 AM Monday, June 17, 2013, in Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Friends may visit Sunday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holly’s House or the American Heart Association.
