William Garfield Jenkins

William “Garfield” Jenkins, 79, a resident of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Garfield was born in Madison County and was the son of Fred William and Ethel Howell Jenkins. On November 11, 1961, he married Florence Atkins Jenkins who passed away March 1, 2003. Garfield was a skilled carpenter by trade and will be forever missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Garfield is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph. Garfield is survived by two sons, William “Bill” Virgil Jenkins and Christopher Allen Jenkins (Kristen), both of Culpeper; three grandchildren, Kemper, Claudia and Eli; six brothers, Sidney (Evelyn), Lindsey (Connie), and Wayne, of Culpeper; Douglas (Barbara) of Chantilly, VA; Russell (Elta) and Freddie (Theda), of Luray; four sisters, Mary Ann Kline, Bonnie Behrendt (David) and Deborah Saunders, of Culpeper; Marjorie Marston of Luray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Ruth Jackson and Mary Scapellato.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Reverend Ludwell Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office, c/o Project Lifesaver, 14023 Public Safety Court, Culpeper, VA 22701.
