Obituary of Harriett Joan Ellison
Mrs. Harriett Joan Dahl Ellison, 92, of Culpeper, VA, passed away peacefully at her home in Culpeper, VA on August 20, 2023. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Harriett moved to Washington, DC in her teen years where she met the love of her life, her late husband of forty- five years, Robert (Bob) E. Ellison. Born October 28, 1930, to the late Harry and Ruth Dahl of St Paul, Minnesota. Harriett and Bob raised their six children in Silver Spring, MD, where Harriett worked as an operator for the C&P Telephone Company, going on to become a network administrator for Verizon. In their later years, Harriett and Bob found great joy in retiring to their farm in Culpeper, VA surrounded by their family, friends, and animals. Harriett was the beloved pillar and matriarch of her family, a life-long devoted Christian and lover of all animals. She took great joy in spending time with her large family and welcoming all two and four-legged friends to her farm. She will be greatly missed. “What we once have enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”– Helen Keller Harriett is survived by her five children Karen, Gayle, Glenn, Janet, Diane, their spouses, her fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and preceded in death by her son Robert E. Ellison Jr. and great-granddaughter Eleanor Grace Crockett. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Harriett J. Ellison will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11am at Reformation Lutheran Church, 601 Madison Rd, Culpeper, VA 22701. Burial will be private at Little Fork Church, Rixeyville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Reformation Lutheran Church at 601 Madison Rd, Culpeper, VA 22701.
