William C. McDaniels

William C. "Mac" McDaniels, age 77, of Merrillville, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 15, 2024.
He was born August 31, 1947 in Danville, IL to the late William and Elma (Landers) McDaniels.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joy (nee O'Meara) McDaniels; his three children, Tammy (Fred) Paper, Billie (Frank) Borman, and Jeremiah (Stella) McDaniels; six grandchildren, Patrick, Jonnie, Derek, Dustin, Ashley and Alexis; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Terry, Penny, Mark, Manuel, "Punky" and Ricky.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Vern.
William honorably served in the United States Army, 1st Infantry (The Big Red #1) during the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many more commendations. He retired after 37 years of faithful service at Inland Steel in the metallurgical lab. William also volunteered for the Black Oak Fire Department. He was a member of the Hammond DAV and Crown Point Veterans Center. William also volunteered in many other Veterans organizations. He would always be seen taking care of his yard. His favorite time spent was with his family. He will be missed by all who love him.
Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2024 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. His funeral services will be Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
